Terms of Service

Last updated: March 30, 2026 · Effective immediately

1. What Own Your Claim Is

Own Your Claim (“the Service,” “we,” “us”) is a document preparation and organization tool that helps veterans and disabled individuals gather, organize, and draft documentation in support of VA disability and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) claims.

Own Your Claim is not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice, legal representation, or claims advocacy. Nothing produced by this Service constitutes legal advice. The documents and materials we help you prepare are for your own use and require your independent review before submission.

Using this Service does not create an attorney-client relationship of any kind.

2. Who May Use This Service

You must be at least 18 years old to use Own Your Claim. By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

You may use Own Your Claim on behalf of a family member or dependent only if you have their express authorization to do so and you accept full responsibility for all activity under your account.

3. What We Provide

Own Your Claim provides tools to help you:

  • Answer guided interview questions about your medical conditions and service history
  • Generate draft personal statements, condition summaries, and supporting documents
  • Organize evidence and track deadlines related to your claim
  • Access pre-filled versions of common VA and SSA forms for your review and completion
  • Learn about the claims process through educational guides and free tools

All AI-generated content is a draft starting point. You are responsible for reviewing, verifying, and editing all documents before submission. We do not guarantee that any document we help prepare will result in a successful claim.

4. Payment and Refund Policy

Access to your completed document package requires a one-time payment of $30 per case. This is not a subscription. There are no recurring charges.

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you are unsatisfied with the Service for any reason within 30 days of payment, contact us at support@ownyourclaim.com and we will issue a full refund, no questions asked.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Own Your Claim does not store your payment card information.

5. Unauthorized Practice of Law

Own Your Claim is a document preparation service, not a law firm. We are not attorneys and do not hold ourselves out as attorneys. The Service is not a substitute for the advice of a licensed attorney, accredited VA claims agent, or accredited VA claims representative.

We actively encourage you to consult with:

  • A VA-accredited Veterans Service Organization (VSO) — free of charge
  • An accredited VA claims agent or attorney if your claim involves complex issues
  • A Social Security attorney or advocate for SSDI appeals

We provide referrals to VSOs and vetted legal resources within the Service. These referrals are informational only and do not constitute endorsement.

6. Accuracy of Information

The documents generated by this Service are based entirely on the information you provide. You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all information you enter. Submitting false or misleading information to the VA or SSA may constitute fraud and can result in serious legal consequences.

We do not independently verify the accuracy of your submissions. AI-generated drafts may contain errors, omissions, or language that is not appropriate for your specific situation. Always review your documents carefully before filing.

7. Your Account and Data

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from Account Settings. We permanently delete your data within 30 days of a deletion request. See our Security & Privacy page for full details on how your data is handled.

You may export a copy of all your data at any time from Account Settings.

8. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to submit fraudulent or knowingly false information to any government agency
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data
  • Use the Service to generate documents for someone other than yourself without their authorization
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercialize access to the Service or its outputs
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or extract data from the Service in bulk
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any document produced will achieve a favorable outcome on your claim.

We expressly disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Own Your Claim and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of benefits, loss of income, or claim denial, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (in most cases, $30).

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

For material changes, we will notify you by email (at the address associated with your account) at least 14 days before the change takes effect.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Hennepin County, Minnesota.
